Terry Springett – Builder
Dedication to coaching young Prince Albert athletes has earned Terry Springett respect and admiration of many people Saskatchewan wide. He has coached a variety of sports with emphasis on volleyball and basketball, but also including badminton, wrestling and track and field.
In volleyball Springett has been noted for his involvement with the Smashing Bananas Midget boys, Toppers Juvenile girls and St. Mary senior girls teams winning not less than 5 provincials and 1Western Canadian title along the way.
Springett also has been instrumental in developing a tradition of excellence at Holy Cross Junior High School where he began teaching in 1989. He won four Bantam boys volleyball championships and since P4A started awarding banners in 2003, the Holy Cross gym is adorned with titles won by Springett coached teams. Some years Springett would coach 3 or 4 teams at the same time, juggling weekend tournaments between gymnasiums.
Springett received the Saskatchewan High School Athletic coaching award in 2005 and has been awarded the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Development Coach of the Year twice (97 and 01).
