Starting at age 12 Pete Lukoni was a force in the sport of golf. In 1952 the then 12 year-old, who hails from Nipawin, captured the Nipawin Men’s Golf Championship and never looked back!

All told, locally Lukoni would win 32 Sand Green tournaments between 1952 and 1957, the PA Northern, 2 Saskatoon Holiday Park Open titles and the City of Saskatoon Championship. At a provincial level he captured 2 Sand Green titles, was a member of the Provincial Junior team (1958), Crown Life Provincial Amateur (Pro Am) Champion, Saskatchewan Pro Am Pair Champion, alternate on the provincial Willington Cup team, 3 time Carling O’Keefe Open Champ, runner up at the Saskatchewan Amateur and set 2 course records in the province. In 1963 while completing his B.A., B.Ed. at the University of Saskatchewan, Lukoni turned pro and would serve as an assistant under the likes of Peter Semko, Clayton Robb and Danny Jutras. He toured the province teaching the sport he loved: golf. He created a teaching manual for Phys Ed teachers on the sport and taught 2 U of S classes while conducting over 3000 lessons province wide. He has been a Class A Canadian Professional Golfer for over 40 years and is a life member of the CPGA.

In 1980 Lukoni opened Fairview Fairways in Prince Albert, a 9 hole par-3 golf course with driving range and pro shop. There he would teach in excess of 2000 golf lessons at this location alone.
