David Herbert – Meritorious Service
Born in England, David Herbert has been a force in the sport of soccer since moving to Prince Albert in 1975. Herbert played in the Senior Men’s League for over 16 years, and has coached and been an executive member for over 25.
He has coached at all levels from the Community Clubs (Carlton Park and Crescent Heights) to the U14 Cosmos who won gold at the 1984 Summer Games in North Battleford. His coaching resume includes 13 City championships, 2 Provincial Gold and 2 Provincial Silver medals. Herbert also has assisted with Carlton High School teams.
He has been a tireless volunteer at the executive level of the Prince Albert Minor Soccer Association and PA High Noon Optimist Youth Soccer Association as President from 1983-85, Vice President in 1986, Treasurer/Registrar in 1987 and Registrar in 1988. He also was a founding member and President of the Celtic program, PA Senior Soccer Association, SSA and executive member of Crescent Heights and Carlton Park Community Clubs for Minor Soccer.
Herbert was instrumental in many soccer programs at the High Noon Indoor Soccer Centre His expertise assisted the Soccer Association in the development and construction of the new Alfred Jenkins Field House in 2010.
Herbert also was instrumental in helping to produce a year book chronicling the first 25 years of minor and youth soccer in Prince Albert. He has received the David Newsham Award from Sask Soccerone of the highest honours from the association, for his involvement in the sport.
