A LITTLE ABOUT US

The Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame originated in 1988 when a group of local sports enthusiasts came together with the dream of creating a Hall of Fame to recognize the City’s and district’s top athletes, builders and teams.

Visitors to the Sports Hall of Fame are invited to use the kiosk where they will see all individuals inducted to the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame, other local Sports Halls of Fame across Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.

Nominations & Recognition

Nominations may be made by an individual, club or association and must be signed by the nominator. Nominations are due in November of each year.

Nominations should outline as much factual information as possible, giving details of the accomplishments of the nominees. Where possible, the claimed details of the accomplishments or service record should be supported by documentary evidence.

Nominations will be reviewed by a special Nomination Review Committee. If the nomination does not meet the required criteria, the nominator will be notified. If the nomination is accepted but not chosen for induction that particular year, the nominator will be notified and the file reviewed the following year.

All files are the property of the Hall of Fame and will be kept for historical purposes unless the nomination is not accepted. Nominations are kept on file for three (3) years and if not accepted, will be returned to the nominator.

OUR HISTORY

A group of local sports enthusiasts got together in early 1988 with a dream of forming a Hall of Fame, so that Prince Albert and area athletes, builders and teams could be acknowledged for their successes and contributions to the local sports scene. Prince Albert’s Mayor at that time was Dick Spencer, he was a strong advocate of this endeavour. So on March 30, 1988, an Adhoc Committee was struck to come up with terms of reference for the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame. An informal meeting was then held on June 13, 1988, and on Sept. 26 of that year, the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame was formed. Less than two months later – on November 8 – the first meeting was held at which time the Inaugural Board of Directors was elected, and a constitution was struck.

Since 1988, 27 inductions have occurred.
